Safe Methods for Soothing Your Baby

Teething is a natural stage in your baby’s development, typically starting between 4 and 7 months of age.

During this process, it is common for babies to experience discomfort, excessive drooling, irritability, and even temporary appetite loss.

However, there are safe and effective ways to alleviate their discomfort.

Signs of Teething:

  1. Excessive drooling.
  2. Swollen and red gums.
  3. Constant desire to chew on objects.
  4. Mood changes, such as irritability or frequent crying.
  5. Difficulty sleeping.

Safe methods to soothe discomfort

Teething toys

Choose silicone or rubber teethers that can be cooled in the refrigerator. The cold helps reduce inflammation and soothes sore gums.

Cold foods

If your baby eats solids, offer cold fruits in a mesh feeder. This soothes the gums while preventing choking risks.

Gum massage

With a clean finger or damp cloth, gently rub your baby's gums to relieve pressure and discomfort.

Avoid anesthetic agents

IProducts containing benzocaine or lidocaine are not recommended for babies due to potential health risks.

When to consult a pediatrician or dentist

1. If your baby has a high fever, persistent diarrhea, or symptoms that don't seem related to teething. 2. If the discomfort is severe and doesn’t improve with the suggested methods.
